With Open Box Inspection, the delivery associate will unpack your order package at the time of delivery for your inspection. You can verify the order to ensure right product is delivered without any damages and has the required accessories enclosed.

This capability is only available on pre-paid scheduled delivery orders for television, microwave oven, washing machine, dishwasher and refrigerator products in select pin codes.

Open Box Inspection eligibility messaging will be displayed on the product detail page.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is ‘open box inspection’?

    If you choose an ‘open box inspection’ eligible order, the delivery associate will unpack the package of your order, at the time of its delivery, and help you inspect the contents of your order. With Open Box Inspection, you can verify the order to ensure right product is delivered without any external damages and has the required accessories enclosed, before accepting the delivery.

  2. What can I expect at the time of the delivery?

    At the time of delivery of the purchased product, delivery associate will:

    • unpack the package
    • place the item in the room of your choice;
    • have you visually inspect the product for correctness (i.e., to ensure that it is not completely different from what was ordered), damages and completeness (i.e., to ensure that the product has no missing parts/accessory damage); This does not include a working/functional check of the product.
    • update the open box inspection status as successful/failed in his device

    As open box inspection has implications on return policy, refer FAQ 7, please ensure a responsible adult is available to thoroughly inspect the product and accept delivery.

  3. What happens once inspection is completed and I do not find an issue with the product?

    Post inspection if you find the product is correct, damage free and has required accessories enclosed and damage-free, delivery associate will request for a 6 digit confirmation code to confirm open box inspection status. Once the confirmation code is shared, your delivery will be confirmed.

    Please share the confirmation code only if product is correct, damage free and has required accessories. We will not be able to accept returns for damages for orders where open box inspection has been completed and delivered successfully. Refer FAQ 7 for details on return policy.

    An adult needs to be compulsorily present at the time of inspection and delivery.

    In line with Amazon.in Returns Policy, once you have successfully verified that the product is damage-free, correct and complete through the Open Box inspection, the product will be ineligible for delivery cancellation or refusal.

  4. Where will I find the “confirmation code” to confirm successful open box inspection status?

    The confirmation code to confirm the successful open box inspection status is available on your registered email address and SMS on your registered mobile number. It is also available on Home->Your Orders -> Product-> Tracker

    Please ensure that the adult present at the time of open box inspection has the OTP handy on the scheduled delivery date, for a hassle-free delivery experience.

  5. What happens once inspection is completed and I find an issue with the product?

    Post inspection if you find the product to be damaged, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what was ordered, please refuse the delivery and do not share the 6 digit confirmation code. The delivery associate will take the product back with him. The amount paid will be refunded. Please refer Amazon.in Refund Policy for refund timelines.

  6. Can I get a replacement instead of a refund if I find an issue with the product?

    No. If a product is found to be damaged, has missing accessories or is completely different from ordered, only a refund can be issued. You will need to place a new order to buy the product.

  7. What happens if I find an issue with the product post-delivery or installation?

    In case the product is found to be damaged after you have accepted delivery of an open box inspection eligible order, we will not able to accept returns. Therefore, please ensure a responsible adult is available to thoroughly inspect the product for damages and accept delivery.

    In case the product is found to be functionally defective or not working, after you have accepted delivery of an open box inspection eligible order, you will be required to raise a request within the 10-days’ returns window. Once such request is raised, we will help troubleshoot/ resolve any issues that you may face, over the phone, and/or through an in-person technician visit. In the event the issue remains unresolved, and if eligible, you will be issued a refund/replacement as per the Amazon.in Returns policy. In case of any issues post the 10-days’ returns window, please directly contact the brand service center.

  8. How can I avail ‘open box inspection’?

    “Open box inspection” service is available by default basis the following eligibility criteria –

    Pre-paid scheduled delivery orders, for dishwasher, microwave oven, refrigerator, television and washing machine products. This service is available only at select pin codes. Please refer to FAQ 9 to check for open box inspection eligibility.

  9. How do I know if my pin code is eligible for open box inspection?

    For orders eligible for open box inspection, you will see a ‘open box inspection’ eligibility message on the product detail page. You will see the confirmation “Included FREE Open Box Inspection at the time of delivery” while choosing the delivery slot for open box eligible orders.

    To check pin code eligibility for open box inspection, please populate the pin code where delivery is required. In case the item you are ordering is eligible for ‘open box inspection’, you will see the ‘open box inspection’ eligibility message on the product detail page. Confirmation is given when you see the “Included FREE Open Box Inspection at the time of delivery” while choosing the delivery slot for open box eligible orders.

  10. Is “open box inspection” an optional service?

    No. Open box inspection is available for all orders as described in FAQ8, so that you can inspect the product for damages, correctness and completeness before accepting the delivery.

  11. Do I need to pay for “open box inspection” service?

    No. Open box inspection service is available free of cost.

  12. I want to exchange my old product while buying a new one? Can I still avail open box inspection service?

    Yes. Open box inspection is available for orders which have exchange attached to them as well. However, the new item should be eligible for open box inspection as mentioned in FAQ 2. For exchange orders, only if the old product passes verification, delivery associate will open up the new item package for your inspection.

  13. Will my product be installed at the time of delivery too?

    Only in cases the purchased product was eligible for installation at time of delivery, will installation happen at the same time. Otherwise, the installation will be conducted separately as per the timelines communicated on the website and/ or through email/ SMS.

Terms and Conditions

  • These open box customer terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) will be applicable if you have availed the “Open box inspection” service (“Inspection Service”) while purchasing your product from the website www.amazon.in and the corresponding mobile site and mobile application (collectively, “Amazon.in”).
  • With Open Box Inspection service, you can verify the order to ensure right product is delivered without any external damages and has the required accessories enclosed, before accepting the delivery.
  • As part of the Inspection Service, you are required to inspect and take delivery of the product in-person, after providing the confirmation code to the delivery associate (which would be shared with you through your registered email address and SMS on your registered mobile number) and signing on the mobile/delivery sheet produced by the delivery associate.
  • You agree and understand that only the delivery associate is entitled to open product package and place the product for your inspection.
  • You agree to inspect the product in the presence of the delivery associate only. You understand that inspection means checking the physical appearance and components of the product, if any, and does not include testing the functioning of the product.
  • You acknowledge and agree that once you have shared the confirmation code with the delivery associate and the order has been successfully delivered, return requests on grounds of damaged condition, has missing parts/accessory damage, or is completely different from what was ordered under the Amazon.in Returns policy will not be accepted, irrespective of the fact whether you chose not to inspect the product or parts thereof at the time of delivery.
  • You understand that in case the product which is received in damaged condition, has missing parts/accessories, or is completely different from what was ordered, the delivery will be considered as ‘failed’, and, you will be issued a refund in accordance with Amazon.in Returns policy.
  • You agree and understand that the Inspection Service is not applicable on orders, other than pre-paid scheduled delivery orders for select products, including pay on delivery orders, as may be provided on amazon.in.
  • You understand that in case the product is found functionally defective/not working, after accepting delivery, you can raise a request for return/refund with Amazon customer support within the 10-days’ return window as per the Amazon.in Returns policy.
